Awards & Recognition

RECOGNIZING PEOPLE WHO HELP MAKE OUR COMMUNITY GREAT

Our community is fortunate to have so many outstanding people who are willing to commit their time, talent, and resources in the service of others. The Rotary Club of Waupaca has programs to recognize these people who represent the “Service Above Self” spirit of Rotary.

Teacher/Staff Service Above Self

Each year the Rotary Club of Waupaca receives nominations and selects a recipient for a “Service Above Self” award to recognize a teacher or staff member who has made a difference through their involvement in the community.  This would include service in a community organization, charity, service club, or community project that is above and beyond their duties as a teacher.

In addition to classroom teachers, staff – including guidance counselor, social worker, library media specialist, school psychologist, and dean of students – are eligible for this award.

All teachers and staff have a positive influence on students. This award recognizes the fact that teachers and staff members also set a good example for their students by being actively involved in the community.  A $250 cash award is made to the recipient, and a $250 donation is made to a charity of the recipients choice on their behalf.

High School Student Community Service Award

This Award recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteerism and community service. The award shines a light on the community service activities of students to inspire others and promotes the benefits of volunteerism.

Award recipients receive a certificate, a $250 donation is made to a charitable organization selected by the student, and the award winner is announced at the high school awards assembly.

Middle School Community Service Award

Each month during the school year, Middle School Faculty & Staff recommend students that show exemplary behavior through acts of kindness, perseverance, good citizenship, and leadership. Student awardees are given certificates suitable for framing and receive $30.00 prize that they then donate to a non-profit cause of their choosing.
